DSM creates carbon-neutral plastic
by Laura ~ August 7th, 2009
International plastics manufacturer DSM Engineering Plastics is ready to introduce to the market its carbon-neutral engineering plastic, EcoPaXX. Because 70% of the polymer used for EcoPaXX is derived from castor oil, production of the plastic produces net zero carbon: the amount of CO2 released during the manufacturing process is entirely offset by the absorption of CO2 by the castor beans grown for production. DSM says reports that the high-performance plastic will be suitable for electrical and automotive applications.
