Seesmart LED Tube lights & Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Fluorescent Lighting

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is one of the world’s premier cancer centers, and they’ve made the switch over to Seesmart’s LED Tube lights. The doctors and staff you’ll find there are absolutely amazing. I’m speaking from personal experience as I was diagnosed in their Pediatric center almost fourteen years ago (and am happy to report cancer free!). Memorial Sloan Kettering is considered a leader in cancer surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. It was the first to develop services specifically dedicated to the psychiatric aspects of cancer, to the relief of cancer pain, and to genetic counseling. I would not be here today if not for the amazing people there, which is why I’m so proud of the work completed by Seesmart to retrofit nearly 700 fixtures there.

Using Seesmarts LED Tube lighting

I will always remember the parking garage as being dark and kind of ominous, though it appears that’s no longer the case. By switching from fluorescent lighting to LED Tube lights, the hospital has been able to reduce its energy costs by almost 57%, allowing the hospital to receive a $22,000 rebate from Con Edison. With the completion of the parking garage Seesmart has been commissioned by two neighboring facilities (one being the residential center, and the other being a medical center) to help transition over from fluorescent tube lights to LED Tube lights.

I remember that area of Manhattan rather well as I spent a lot of time there when I was sick, occasionally meeting with medical staff across the street at New York Presbyterian Hospital or spending time sitting eating something from the food stand in front of the building. The interconnection of hospitals, doctors offices, and treatment centers truly makes Memorial Sloan Kettering and its neighbors a unique and amazing place in the fight against cancer. I’m so happy that Seesmart has been able to help be a part of the hospital’s move to reduce its carbon footprint and the money we’ve helped the hospital save.
